I wore gloves a couple times when shopping and realized it was easy to open the bags with gloves on. I was hoping it would become a trend but I am back to sneaking over to the wet produce and covertly getting my fingers wet.
Huh, apparently this is not uncommon. …So maybe it’s more urgent that people not touch the produce section with their fingers, and instead wipe the (hopefully sterile) bag on the moisture, instead.
I was at Costco last week trying to open one of the meat ones. After about a minute I said “Get me a new one! This one is clearly defective as I cannot open it!” I have never heard some many random strangers laugh before. I feel your pain Adam…
Have you ever succeeded in opening one of those bags, only to discover that you opened the short end? (That is, you opened the actual end, and not the end you were supposed to open?) It’s a very humbling and frustrating experience.
Oh man… you missed a COVID-19 related comic… try opening one of those bags and not being able to lick your fingers! 😛
I figured that one out! Because the displays on the walls get misted, there’s water on the edges, you can wet your fingers that way.
To avoid getting your finger-germs on public surfaces, you could probably go one step further and wipe the bag itself on the moisture. Clever, though.

This could be an episode of “Love, Death, and Robots”
