I’ve always been a bit fascinated by album covers, and this might be the first cartoon I’ve read that addresses album cover art in this way.
It seems like there’s a trend to make people on album cover art seem as aloof as possible. And panels 2 and 3 of this cartoon capture that trend perfectly.
As a father of 3, I do not blame him. I remember being told what I was like when the kids were young. I have no memory of the time itself; apparently evolution built us to forget the fact that babies are basically cute, cuddly war crimes and chemical weapons.
I have read EVERY bug comic up until now and I can’t believe that, until today’s strip, I had NEVER noticed that bug’s head wasn’t actually connected to his body. I had to go back a few strips and check. Sure enough, they aren’t physically together. How could I have missed that before???
The contrast in the fourth panel of the beard and expression of the bug of the left is hilarious for reasons I can’t name.
Aside from the Dress Code strip of many years ago, this is my new favorite. Bug at his best!
You can bill yourselves as Vietnam Vets doing Boomer Nostalgia Music.
And call yourselves Greater Pumpkin, Charlie Down.
