Having spent some considerable in Wisconsin (not just America’s Dairyland, but also the land of supper clubs… and brandy Manhattans… and the uniquely Wisconsin version of the Brandy Old Fashioned – almost a fruit salad) I think I can explain it a bit, if not very well:
A supper club is more of just a restaurant than anything, now. Once upon a time the “club” was a bit more, with entertainment and maybe room for dancing. It is supposed to be a bit more relaxed than a regular restaurant… and sometimes is. Though now, it might be closer to a “bar & grill” than anything else. Unless things are truly crowded, there is no rush to leave. Chatting with friends and ordering the occasional dessert or drink (or dessert drink, yes) for much of the evening is not frowned upon.
