Met a guy begging for money. He told me he was an artist and needed money for supplies. I asked him why he didn’t get a job. He said it would take away “muse time” from his art. When I asked him why he didn’t sell his art, he said real artists didn’t sell their art.
Poverty, check. Avant garde fashion sense, check. Prune pop-tarts level of angst, check. Complete inability to do anything. Check.
Didn’t know I had it in me but looks like I’m a true artist. Would bring out the champagne except for the poverty and how it cramps my anguished style.
Having ones soul crushed allows for a new level of freedom; freedoms from expectation as well as the ability to not care what other people think. Who sets the standard for happiness anyhow? Is it all supposed to be good? How can we know good without knowing what bad is? I always feel more alive during adverse situations or is that just a cop-out? Hum, who cares I was there when I was born and I will be there when I die. I plan to sell a lot of art in between too. ;-}
Adam, I was introduced to your comic through cyanide and happiness, but as I read your work starting from strip number one, i found that every strip you’ve made is a treasure, and the daily comics are like gifts I look forward to enjoying each morning. I’m glad I was introduced to such a unique and original comic strip, keep up the great work!
Win Adam! Win!
Nice ending to the week mate!!
Haha! I like Fat Business Bug. 🙂
Great week of laughs, Adam!
Pointy-Haired Bug!
Or is that too close to a copyright violation?

I think I know that guy too.
One of the things I love about this is that each panel is a punchline–you are the densest webcomic out there. And that’s a good thing.
Fat Cat bug is cool, reminds me of Kingpin from Spiderman.
To be successful, an artist needs an Artist’s Statement:

Decoupage or decompose!!!
I’ve always assumed that’s how life worked.

How bad off do I have to be to be a webcartoonist ?
You really, REALLY don’t want to know.
I’ve made many a “does this pen have any ink” drawings myself. Too bad they’re not marketable. 🙁
so thats what I’ve being doing wrong-actually working!
I love bug so much 🙂
It’s not that we can’t do other things. We just find them too soul-crushing.

Look, we’re making art now!

Wow I’m the total package! According to the rest of the world I have no skills… So I must be an artist!

Learned a new word: decoupage
Decoupage or Decease
Decoupage or Decimate?
