But, by talking with the narrator, it is, in fact, breaking the fourth wall (i.e., having the character acknowledge that the action is, indeed, fictional and/or scripted and that the “real world,” either of the audience or of the author, is separate from that of the character). BTW, I agree with Thopter – way to break it! I didn’t fully realize you were doing it until Pane 4 – well done, sir, well done! 🙂
Actually, breaking the wall between the characters and the author/narrator would also count. See the TV Tropes page about this. I suppose you could argue that the narrator is Bug and not Adam, but that would make it really weird when Bug talks to the narrator – like, say, yesterday. Or, you know, the day before that. Or, well, rightoften,as it happens.
Cape Tag: This cape may be used to hide those oh-so-attractive food particles that you plastered to your face while attempting to eat through this cape
I really like this one. Most of your strips have self contained jokes in each panel which are loosely tied together. This one has a basic premise that just gets more ridiculous that had me bursting out laughing at the end.
Also reminded me of Overboard, where the characters sometimes argue with or even ridicule the cartoonist, and the big guy once came for him with a pair of cutlasses because the cartoonist had let the woman in the bar read the guy’s nervous thought balloons. Overboard is one of my favorites, but Bug has surpassed it on the list.
I’m gonna say “You’re totally ovulating right now” to my wife the next time I can work it into the conversation. Hilarious, Adam. And I agree, there should be a disclaimer on this site. “May cause you to snort in public”.
And yes, very Bloom County-ish vibe today. Kudos!
Just listened to Oh Yea by Yello (Ferrari scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and this made my night 🙂
That would make an excellent song for this week of strips.
Way to break the fourth wall. Love it! 🙂
the fourth wall is between characters and audience, not characters and narrator.

Lemme just squeeze right in here, between these comments.
…So. How’s it goin’?

Bugg dating tips has changed my life! I will never be Forever Alone again!
“Never Be (Forever Alone Again)” would have been a great 1980s rock ballad by REO Speedwagon.
And by great, I mean really insipid.

one cannot hold security clearance, have a license to kill, and also say “for realsies”
seriously, it’s in the rulebook.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I can no longer carry a firearm in the service of my country…
Genius

This what made it great to me too 🙂 The “joke in each panel” is what I love about this strip every day.
My favourite dressing tips are all cribbed from “Plan 9 from Outer Space”.
Huxley for the win …
Today’s strip had a real “Bloom County” vibe to it.
I take that as a compliment.

For those who don’t know what ‘Bloom County’ is (i.e. me): http://www.gocomics.com/bloomcounty
@Adam: Great strip as always 😀
GREAT. I just cackled and snorted LOUDLY. In public. >.< There should be a disclaimer on your site, man. You're too funny.

Adam, you’re way too funny man!
I wish I could swap places with my boyfriend so I could say stuff like this to him XD
mmmm….interesting
A moment of silence for the fourth wall.
