I couldn’t agree more. My daughter and I make fun of books interesting books – a good read so far – that are coming to the last 15 pages with multiple story lines hanging open. “Boom de Boom de Bing Bang” write your way out of it and off to the editor it goes.
Oh Adam, if I were gay I’d marry you, if I were lesbian I’d covert for you, and if I were straight I’d talk about what I’d do if I were gay or lesbian.
Spoken like a true fan of “A Song of Ice & Fire” by George RR Martin. That old dude’s gonna die waaaaay before he finishes this series. Takes him 6 YEARS to write the next one in the series. Ugh!
Adam…this is the first time I’m disappointed. The comic is funny, but really…reading rules and I’m almost ALWAYS sad to come to the end of a really good book. If it’s boring (sorry Stephen King fans…he blows) I just stop reading it. I don’t care how it ends.
AAAAHH! Sorry, I hate that. Each to their own I guess, but I only lend people a book if they promise to use a bookmark instead of dog-ear. I also have two copies of my Harry Potter collection, one to keep in near-pristine condition at home and one I don’t mind getting a bit battered in my bag
Hah, I love books too and I’ve read some great ones countless times, but I can totally relate to this comic… most of the mediocre books out there just make me feel like I need to accomplish finishing them ASAP. I’m SO proud of my bookmark progression. (Just in my head, but still counts.)
I almost consider it more of an accomplishment to not finish books. I often read them faster than my book budget allows. I read two books in the last week alone.
More often than not, I’m actually sad to have a book over with. It was only ever required reading in school that was a drudge, but even a title or two in that category I read the whole thing in one go. Made my teachers nuts. = P
Oh, and if I have an unfinished book, I actually feel guilty. I’m a complete reverse Bug in this situation.
I love reading. But I admit, I’m still proud of my bookmark’s passage through the book, only to be proud of the speed of my reading. There are some books I wish would go on forever. And others (cough Gone With the Wind cough) that just never end in a bad way.
I feel like this is one of those things that everyone thinks but never talks about.
Shhh! We are not suppose to talk about that.
What’s the first rule about book club?
1: Never talk about book club.
No, wait, that’s fight club. I don’t know what the first rule about book club is. Sam, below, appears on the same track.
… nope, never thought that. But, I am a bit of a bookworm. 😛
Diddo
Chapter Three-ing this.
i read that as dildo
Just finished reading the archive as this one came out. Your comic gave me a few good chuckles. Thanks, keep up the great work.
The first rule of Book Club is you don’t talk about Book Club.
Christ Bug. He was squashed for your sins.
And now I feel guilty for letting Valentine Vox the Ventriloquist sit there for what feels like decades.
I think you are reading the wrong books. 😉
I agree. I’m quite sad when I finish a good book, and I’d rather read then watch TV…
Agreed. Who needs TV when you can just watch the stories inside your head (without commercials)?
Except when it comes to Mythbusters 😀

I always made my own bookmark ^~^

Keep it up.
Ummmm…nope, don’t feel any of those things! Reading rules!
There is little more disappointing in reading than finishing a book in a series and the next one doesn’t come out for months though.

Well I consider it a victory if it took me THIS long to disappoint someone.
I only agree with the second panel because I read before bed. 🙂
Actually, I’m always a little sad when I finish a book. 🙁 I want the good stories to continue!
So I read the book again. 😉
Please, stop reading books. Leave it to those who enjoy it.
Thank you!
I’m nudging my bookmark but it doesn’t even flail o.o
Second pannel made me LMAO, now I have to find it again.
I may get some grief from this, but… What is a bookmark? I dog ear my pages. :-/

Why is Christ hanging out at Bug’s place? And where can I get a copy of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Musical Belching”? Amazon doesn’t carry it…

Yeah uhhh, I just play video games. I read occasionally but….well that’s the only point to my comment really.

I love books. I am proud of myself for finishing it, though. I always signal it with a loud SLAM!
Books aren’t really books for me.
They’re movies in my head that only need light.
No wifi, memory space, no battery.
