Watched the black and white 1940 “The Mark of Zorro” the other night. Tyrone Power looked like a gay blade in that one. I notice that fencing in the Olympics looks nothing like the sword play one sees in the movies.
I was a fencer through college…would love to get back into it. Was the best shape of my life. And I can kill a burglar by stabbing him repeatedly with a blunt piece of steel.
An alternative title to this comic would be “TOUCHE or not TOUCHE”

Panel two is what I’d look like if I took up swordplay. The bug on the left, that is.
I can identify proper form in fencing. You can tell because things stay on the proper side of the resulting fence.
This works until you encounter an actual fencer.

Yeah, Olympic fencing would be better if it lived up to its other name of “strip fencing”. 😉
I have not yet advanced beyond ‘pointed sticks’ but feel this will give me a good foundation in the future.
