Returning from a (rare) business trip, wearing a suit (also rare), I was drinking a scotch on the rocks when our short-haul airplane hit turbulence. I did a figure-eight thing with my glass and didn’t spill a drop. Unfortunately the businessjerk sitting next to me just held his bloody mary to one side, and I got a lap full of tomato juice….
In truth, I always thought we protected our drinks that we might avoid wasting alcohol.
Then again, anyone who has ever tried to clean Cisco out of cheap, apartment-grade beige carpet can see Adam’s logic. Having successfully gotten the fondue out of the carpet, but not the Cisco, I suppose now I have to re-think my drink-preservation priorities. Oh, well. It all comes down to the same thing. Stitches before spills.
