Birthdaymas

Drew this strip as a birthday present for my mom and dad, both of whom have birthdays right around Christmas time (hence why the boy and girl get married in the end). Wasn’t sure I was ever going to post this one, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of it.
The singer Jimmy Buffet was born on December 25th, and has written about this in his life.
The singer Lemmy Kilmister was born on december 24th, but he basically doesn’t care.
Cudos for using Mussolini as epitome of evil. You know, instead of the standard choice. Yay for diversity.
That’s because the “standard choice”™ was born in April xD
Well, Musollini is pretty much a douchebag. He always have someone following him around with a briefcase full of cash. Everytime someone praising him he will pick money from that briefcase and give it to them.
“Why, Mr. Musollini! You’re looking awful handsome today.”
*receives cash*
*puts on fake mustache and runs around the block*
“Say, Mr. Mussolini, have you been working out?”
*receives cash*
Lather, rinse, repeat.
Adam, what about Southern Hemisphere people like myself? Is having a Summer birthday that ‘spoils’ someone able to be counter-acted by that being on Christmas, which is in Summer for us? Paradox or Mind-blown?
Whoa! Paradox!
If you’re born in the SoHem* at Christmas and it’s not winter…. were you really born at all?
Hmmm.
*I just invented that, I think.
I am so stealing SoHem

SoHem is now a thing, we are making it happen
SWEEETT!
You’re probably aware of this, but all evidence points towards Jesus being born nowhere near Christmas time.
This was altered by church officials most likely, to help integrate other religions in to Christianity.
I suppose the joke still makes perfect sense when you consider that the majority of Christians still celebrate Jesus’ birth on Christmas (which is actually a pagan holiday, where we worship a tree), but I’ll take any chance for a pointless rant.
My mom’s birthday is on december 24th, and she’s been complaining about that her whole life.
But I’m quite impressed that it’s not Hitler in the last panel. Forgot the name? 😛
Hitler – April 20
Mussolini – July 29
Which incidently gives Mel Brooks “Springtime for Hitler” a new twist
Earworm! I’m going to be singing that all day now. Actually, the horrified looks on my coworkers’ faces will be worth it. I thank you.
Miserly love marriage?
My niece was born on 21st December.
They keep people from giving her one big present for both occasions!
OMG. RIGHT IN THE FEELS. As someone who has a birthday a scant four days after Christmas, this happens exactly as described.
Although, I admit, I learned to leverage this to be in my favor many times. My parents totally bought me a NES when it came out and I “allowed” it to count as a combined gift. They still had to buy other games, too, so I came out ahead. 😉
I can totally understand as a December baby, except I have the double whammy of having a sibling whose birthday is also in December. It doesn’t mean much now, but in kid times, that was a 3-way screw-over.
I was born on Dec. 21st and my wife was born on Jan. 7th. Try to get everyone together 4 days before Christmas for a party. I wait and celebrate with her on the 7th. That way I can put off getting older for 2 more weeks. Oh yes – we do complain about out birthdays.
My birthday is about the same time at Mother’s day, some years it’s the same day. Most of my birthday dinners have been a mother’s day dinner during which they pause five minutes to acknowledge me before moving on. Making reservations is usually a nightmare. Not bitter at all.
15th of May?
My Mum always complained about that, too.
Plus, my dad usually forgot about both, anyway.
Nope 13th 🙂
Whenever my Mother’s birthday is on a Sunday it’s also Father’s Day. So it then becomes “children take care of yourselves day”
OOhhh hooo!! *wink wink nudge nudge*
Well that isn’t really what I meant. So thanks for that…
HA! 😀
Hey. If parents didn’t “spend time together”, you wouldn’t be here.
I hear ya. Some years I have gotten a separate party, which just means they get a chance to ignore me twice. Fun times. 😛
I do get the “You were my Mother’s Day present!” story every year, though.
Thank you for understanding my pain LOL
You think you’ve got issues, try being born on the autumnal equinox. Talk about getting screwed out of presents.
I lucked out of this – born on Dec 25th, but I was the 1st grandchild on both sides of the family. I always got 2 gifts from everyone & was terribly spoiled.
I was born on February 14. I have no problems having a birthday to celebrate.
My grandfather was born on Christmas, he didn’t seem to mind all too much.
My birthday is on December 22nd. My mother’s birthday is on December 31 so she understood what that meant when you are a child. My little sister’s birthday is on May 12th so to make up for my birthday issue, my parents made a special rule. On each other’s birthdays, we would get a small present. Mine on my sister’s birthday tended to be a bit bigger than her present on my birthday. It helped a lot when I was little.
What a weird coincidence- my birthday’s today!
Happy late birthday!
Almost had to share it with St. Pattys’ Day, too.
You lucked out, there. 😀
Ugh. I was in the store and heard someone say “oh I’m buying for my two kid’s birthday” so the clerk asked “twins?”
“No, they’re a week apart, but we just celebrate the one day”
What… a… bitch…
And thus why we will be having a Very Merry Half-Birthday in the summer for our daughter as she gets older. Or at least at another time in the year. My cousin was born December 24th and made sure people knew she wasn’t ever happy with not having enough gifts or a separate birthday party from the holiday @_@
Have it during a time when people (Grams and Gramps/Aunts and Uncles) typically have time off work, anyway.
That way they can all attend.
Or, have it a ‘floating holiday” and put it on a Saturday.
Good suggestions. Thanks!
Imagine being born on February 29th. Those folks get really screwed!
One of my dispatchers was born on Feb 29.
He turned 8 this year! 🙂
Last year… whenever the last one was.
Time goes by so fast. 🙁
I was born on December 12. My sister on December 18. But we’re also Jewish so…
