Well, technically valkyries are themselves guides. They’re psychopomps who choose half of the noble slain to go with Odin to Valhalla, while the other half go with Freyja to Folkvangir. I don’t know why Valhalla gets all the press — Folkvangir is supposed to be every bit as nice, and is open to people who die noble deaths in ways OTHER than combat, as well.
So, y’know, I’m just saying. Folkvangir is probably less expensive and less touristy, too.
I’m fascinated by your decision to include both spurious post-mediæval helms. The few surviving spangenhelms and grimhelms are void of horn and wing, as logic would suggest*.
Were you just following modern convention, or was there a point?

*interestingly the grimhelm from Sutton Hoo mound 1 has stamped decoration depicting possibly sword-dancing guys wearing helms with horns that would go down really well with Texas cattle. 🙂
Considering that the decorated helms (actual, real, historical helmets) were used for ceremonial purposes. And that greeting at the entrance to valhalla seems like a ceremonial sorta thing, and showing support for your favored team via headdress is also ceremonial, sorta makes me think that, perhaps, the decorated helms fit into these situations.
And here, have some more commas. I don’t think I used enough. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I just read something about valkyries being at Valhalla so I kinda dressed the orientation coordinator in a winged helmet. That’s as far as I thought it through.
Thanks!
I was going to dress up the stuntman in a Loki costume, but decided it might be too distracting. It’s a shame. I was kinda looking forward to drawing a Loki bug.
Her job title must be Guide of the Valkyries.
That was horrible. Well done!
Well, awful jokes are my specialty. Just ask literally anyone I’ve ever socialized with.
Son of a… Why didn’t I think of that for a title?!
I’m flattered that you think it’s better than yours.

Huh. Never knew that. Thanks!

Because it’s a strip about talking bugs?

The Viking looking around all non-chalantly with arrows sticking out of him killed!
No no, he got killed, that’s why he’s there.
I can’t stop laughing panel 4. It’s just such a well executed visual on so many levels.
Thanks!

you could always do a strip on why loki would make a great friend
Yes! This needs to happen.
Skol Vikings! Although it would be marginally more awesome if the Vikings fan bug was in a Helga hat, I still got a big grin out of it.
