Woo-hoo! I did it! I seriously didn’t think I’d be able to write enough strips with bugs peering through plants. I feel like Rocky after he ran up all those stairs.
Theseus and the Minotaur is the exciting one. Hercules and the Minotaur is the one where Hercules went into a hedge maze and just tromped around and the wimpy minotaur threatened to poke him with pruning shears.
It’s such a boring story that nobody bothers to tell it, which is why you haven’t heard it.
I’m just going to assume that he meant a different Bergman, and was referring to “Bergmann’s Rule”, which, as far as I can tell, says that bigger versions of animals live where it’s colder, and smaller versions of animals live where it’s warmer. Like, how Kodiak bears and polar bears are much bigger than black bears and brown bears. And that he was referring to how minotaurs are an exception, in that the big one lived in the Mediterranean, and the wimpy ones live in English gardens.
I was first thinking it was regarding the piano playing comic but that was Victor Borge. Then I remembered that there was a film director but can not remember if I saw any of his films.
Ya gotta admit, that Maze Minotaur in panel three is pretty wussy-looking! Kinda hard to a-scared of him.
And good on you Adam, for drawing 5 consecutive days of bushes-peering-bugs. Since you feel like Rocky Balboa after he ran up those steps in Philly, did you drink 6 raw eggs in a glass to start out your day?
If you were being chased by a hedge maze minotaur and you went back through the hedges, could it follow you, or would it have to find it’s own way around?
It has woodland stride?
So at least 2 levels of druid but not more than 4. I would give the rest as levels of Gardener for ole hedgie or Raging Barbarian for his Greek cousin.
How big do you draw your comic strip? 8 1/2 x 11 or 11 x 17?
How do you scan in your comics? Do you have a large flatbed scanner?
Tell me or I shall trap you in a hedge maze of torment!
I draw my strips on smooth Bristol paper. The strips are roughly 4″ x 13.” The scanner I have isn’t big enough to scan it in one pass so I have to scan it twice and assemble to two scans in Photoshop.
Having used pruning shears a few times, I’m dubious about them being not scary. I mean, those things can take your finger off, and they have sharp points for eyes as well. Thank goodness the hedge maze manager told him not to hurt anyone, I’d be pretty concerned if I was cornered by a man-ox with a pair of pruning shears myself.

And that sums up the TRUE story about Hercules and the Minotaur.
Pedant moment of the day: Theseus and the Minotaur.

YAY…Adam succeeded in his ridiculous self-determined spree!
wait….what?
XD
Adam why stop drawing bugs out of trees now? Don’t you get it? It’s your curse now… You’ll be drawing this for the rest! MWAHAHAHA!
The “Bugs Peering out of Bushes” took on an almost Bergmanesque vibe.
I’m gonna assume this is the first and last time someone refers to this strip as “Bergmanesque.”
I’m just going to assume that he meant a different Bergman, and was referring to “Bergmann’s Rule”, which, as far as I can tell, says that bigger versions of animals live where it’s colder, and smaller versions of animals live where it’s warmer. No, I was referring to the director.
I was first thinking it was regarding the piano playing comic but that was Victor Borge. Then I remembered that there was a film director but can not remember if I saw any of his films.
Was that the husband of Ingrid Bergman?
In the context of this weeks overarching theme, panel one had me in tears! Great stuff!
Thanks!
I always thought you picked horribly thorny bushes for that reason for these sorts of mazes?~
Or is this another time in history we went all bubblewrap society?
Somehow I can’t unsee the bug in the last panel having no eyes but rather large front teeth instead…
Curse you!!!
“Get milked”.
Thank you, Adam.
I was gonna follow that with “pork chop” until I realized that pork chops are from pigs.
Could do “veal chop”.
you could have followed with ”grass eater!”
¿Beefcake?

No, but I did go to a meat packing facility and punched a slab of beef a couple of times before being asked to leave.
If you do the eggs thing, try the Easter cream variety, they are less yucky and prone to salmonella.
I can answer that. NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Today’s strip was truly inspired. Also there’s some poetic justice at glasses minotaur bug being the butt of the joke 🙂
I’ve wanted to see you do a countdown week. Monday is five panels. Tuesday is your typical four. And come Friday, one large panel.
Interesting idea.
That’s how the final book of the ‘Death of Superman’ comic did it, but it’s been *counts on fingers* 24 years… No.. Can’t be!

“get milked, you doof” is definitely my new insult phrase.
actually it might just be my new phrase i force into any circumstance
