Sounds like you would be serving on the GSN Francis Mueller (from David Weber’s Honorverse). The navy uses that ship as a dumping ground for their personnel that are too useless or incompetent for actual service, but not enough to dismiss from the service.
I don’t know, how could someone who is competent make the mistake of adding explosives to every single console on the ship?
theres not THAT much energy going through the displays…. and all the processing power is not at the consoles but wherever the ship is
I disagree; I always found the crew of the various Star Trek franchises grossly incompetent, making highly questionable decisions and constantly putting the lives of the crew at risk. Only Data, Wesley Crusher, plus Benjamin Sisko & a few of his off-siders generally did the sensible thing. Even the logical Spock agreed to many illogical courses of action that he should have known better about.
I second this strip.
And some of my coworkers already proved that they don’t know how to change the coffee filter!
I third the strip.
Over here more and more companies have filterless coffee machines. Guess why.
They _could_ get a tugboat to get them out of the space dock, though.
But having that idea requires some level of cleverness?
Could someone help embed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6vYKJerstg for me? This webcomic’s comments section has a noted tendency to be nostalgia central.
You can just paste the link, but I don’t think you can have any text with it.

I would post the ‘Galaxy Quest’ scene, but the right side would be cut off – which is where the funny is.
Since we handle heavy equipment every day I have no doubt that our guys could get a ship out of the dock.
But, then they’d just park by the space curb with their four-ways on while they do a bunch of paperwork.
Those intergalactic border crossings are a pain in the hiney-hoe.

well at least they would all be red shirts
So Adam… Do any of your coworkers know that you draw a very funny comic strip?
God I hope not.
I wouldn’t use a teleporter no matter who’s running it. It disintigrates me, which means I die. Doesn’t matter what it does after that.
