I know the feeling. Sometimes when I have my one on one with my manager I’m thinking “How do I explain to him that I’ve done practically nothing lately?”
Small comment about layout, I think the title should be closer to the strip (used to be just below) so it can be seen along with the strip. As it currently is, it requires a bit of scrolling.
Did the agents also take away the random comic button and turn him into something else?
…
Now I’m sad, I used the random button everyday when I had already read the newest comic.
Any chance we can get the little guy back?
Everything is squished into a very skinny width and I have to scroll a lot to see the comments. The old layout didn’t look as pretty but it was much more functional.
Seconded. I shrink the page about four steps to make the text an appropriate reading size, but then the comic is only four inches wide. Maybe it’s not rendering right for me but the new page has zero personality and looks really flat and empty. I know maintaining a standard site and a mobile site would be extra work, but it would help prevent each half of the user base from suffering through the required mediocrities of the other.
I think that–particularly for folks working on a shoestring budget–website redesigns take time. There’s the initial back and forth. Then there’s the back and forth once it’s up and running. Then there’s the back and forth about the re-redesign based, in part, on constructive feedback.
Brand new shiny websites that please EVERYONE cost like $10 grand, and I’m guessing that not every web cartoonist has that kind of cash.
Maybe if everyone commenting would just have a little patience, this site will improve. Or, alternately, you could just donate $10 grand to Adam, and he could afford to have a shiny web design company that knows how to please everyone make him a shiny new site that pleases everyone.
I wanted to say something about the new site theme though. While it’s great on mobile, it’s just weird on desktop. Everything that’s not comic is too big, and the text in the comment form is too light. It works great on phones though, I’d like to congratulate whoever designed it. Just needs a few kinks worked out. I think a css @media query could fix it quickly.
Bootstrap could give Adam the spiffy mobile look he craves and something closer to the old design we all loved on our desktop boxes. But I still say this design looks like someone dropped their Creamsicle onto a Limeade spill.
I also miss all the spiffy avatars in the comments section.
As you can see by the comments, Adam, it’s clear the new site layout has problems. I don’t think you’re the type to ignore your fanbase, so if you could work with the people who made the new site to iron out the kinks, that would be most appreciated.
As you can see from my comments in the initial blog post about the site update, I asked for feedback and will address the problems as soon as I and my web designers have the time.
I kinda feel cheated that the last panel doesn’t actually show Bug as a toaster oven. Last panel’s still funny, though.
Also, I second the requests on bringing back the random button and moving the title closer to the comic. Other than that, I have zero issues with the website, it’s just gonna take adjusting to.
I’d say if my boss is wondering what I’m doing all day we’re even.

“I’m working real hard, boss-man. Just like you!”
“Well, in that case; we’re going to have to let you go.”
Funny, I was just talking about the Matrix last night and…
Wait, does everything seem more green today?
No, that’s just this web site. There are no déjà-vues, either.

adam, didn’t u even consider the PC-folks???
are you so eager to appeal to millenials with their mobes?
Actually I’m on my phone and the new layout is terrible.

I thought my browser broke – again.
There must be a way to preserve the original page layout for us desktop dinosaurs yet allow for the playschool layout requirements of mobile users.

Plus, I miss the Random button!
Me too! 🙁

I thought the punchline would be “And according to your intelligence levels, you are now reclassified as a baby.”
I love this one!

I miss the arrows to view past comics. 🙁
Now if I fall behind, I have to go into the archive. Yes, First World Problems, I know. Just saying….
