OK, this strip is a bit of an exaggeration. In all honesty, we’d probably be up to steam power by now.
I dunno. Painting lute players takes a lot caffeine. I’m not sure we’d make it into the Renaissance.
Nah, where do you think the steam engine came from? The coffeemaker!
Yawnnnnnn. What?
Love the mummy bug!
Actually, when coffee came to Europe, it literally kickstarted the Enlightenment. So… you’re totally right. 😀
You know, I’m 70% certain that coffee was either invented or popularized during the Renaissance. That being said, this strip is still hilarious.
In pre-industrial times, everybody drank ale and cider. Around the time of the Industrial revolution, coffee and tea became popular.
As my wife says, the Industrial revolution is what happens when an entire culture switches from depressants to stimulants.
I guess you meant popular in Europe? Seems to have already been popular in the Middle East.
And a student of history will know that the Arab Golden Age was happening alongside the medieval period, fueled by coffee.
And thanks to steam-powered, someone would’ve invented coffee.
You’ve used this premise before.
Can you really call it a mask if it covers the entire body?
