I’ve always wondered what the minimum age is to get into a home. I could I go at 50? Would I have to lie about my age? Would they kick me out if they found out I was not incontinent?
the youngest person I have looked after in aged care was in their 50s, however my wife (also a nurse) looked after a 28 year old with dementia – caused by drug abuse 🙁 The person I was looking after had brain damage caused by alcohol abuse.
many younger people do end up, sometimes through no fault of their own but by illness or accident, living in aged care facilities because there are too few supported living facilities that cater to younger folks.
when we have younger patients we do try to be more inclusive and have activities and such that they would enjoy as well as stuff for older people. The man I referred to above used to pace around the facility at night like a caged tiger. It was very sad.
There was a 30-year old at my grandfather’s — he’d had a stroke and lost too much muscle control to live independently, but still had all his intellect.

True story: my mother is a hospital chaplain, as a second career, and during her training, she did a residency as a live-in chaplain at an assisted living-and-nursing home facility.
She looked into whether she could talk them into letting her live there for free if she worked for them… as far as she’s concerned, the assisted semi-independent units were every bit as nice as you’re suggesting.
Adam, I don’t know if someone’s already pointed this out, but there is a problem with your Random Comic! button. It seems to work fine on the first click, but then if I click it again without restarting my computer, it just takes me back to that first comic it sent me to. I’m not sure how high this particular issue is on your priority list, but please look into it. Thanks!
Not pretending to be Adam, but it has indeed already been pointed out. In the meantime, switching to (or out of) incognito mode also resets it rather than having to reset your whole system (or even just your browser).
HONESTLY, I love your comic. that’s why I follow your Patreon too.
but ARE YOU SURE you don’t live not so far from me in France because the amount of situation you talk about, even more about parents or elderly, I FEEL LIKE YOU KNOW MY LIFE! lol
it’s creepy and HILARIOUS LOL

You should show up wearing a diaper on the outside then.

I was trying to fix a typoe, but now it looks like I was just having a senior moment. Bonus!

Yup. As long as Domino’s will deliver (I might have to get a ground-floor room with a window they can slip the pizza through).

Let me guess, baby found these brochures to her taste, so much she decided to adopt that lifestyle already ?
If you were sent to an old folks home, would you continue to draw comic strips for me?
Shady Pines, Ma! Shady Pines!
Adam, for $5000 a month they would be glad to have you stay with them
