forgive me for being stupid, but I can’t find a link to your blog.
Theres Twitter, which the current most recent tweet links here, audioblog which you haven’t upadated in nearly a year, and GOS which unless im missing something doesn’t mention it. No other blog link to be found.
You’ve mentioned this elusive “blog post” a couple times. Care to link it? I tried to visit bug.com but it’s not loading and I have no idea how to get to the blog . . .
Also, I suppose we will need to update the RSS feed?
I must say, I don’t like the changed name. Seems a lot less relevant. But it’s not like it’s the end of the world, and if Mr. Huber feels there’s a reason to switch it, then ok, whatever.
Indeed. Meh @ the name thing. Oh, and us old-timers can still visit via bugcomic.com, right? Much meh. To mother nature’s pressure valves, if you please!
I’ll admit, I was a bit incredulous at first, but after reading the blog post your reasoning is sound, and the new name does have a good ring to it. Setting aside instinctive fear of change, this seems like a good idea and you have my support.
Adam, you are probably one of the hardest working web comic producers I know. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to whatever ‘newness’ the new strip name brings!
I saw the blog post. It makes complete sense why he’s changing it. I agree with him about the search, too. It sometimes takes me a while to figure out what I should search to find the website.
Basically, the reason for the change is that the name “Bug” is too generic and could cause trademark problems down the road. The name change opens the door to making Bug (Martini) books.
As to why “Bug Martini” — he says it just felt/sounded like the right name.
I kinda had an idea for a comic for you. I didn’t really think of a comic but I had a thought and I copypasted it here so you may think something of it yourself and make something funny out of it.
“I wish we lived in a world where giving your first-born child had a higher meaning than just making someone else adopt it.
Whatever happened to demons who want your first-born in exchange for riches…”
Last panel made me put my head down on my desk. You made me snort, Adam! Curse you! ha ha ha ha ha!
Now I’m off to read the blogpost. Bug Martini sounds a bit odd, but hell, this whole comic is odd. It says Random Nonsense 5 days a week, and well…Bug Martini is pretty random.
Cheers!
Comic names are one of those funny little things. They really don’t matter a whole bunch in the grand sceme of things. Take a look at “Peanuts”. Schulz hated that name for decades, and for good reason. It’s a terrible name. But I doubt it hurt that comic one bit and ultimately people called it what the wanted. Like “Charlie Brown” or in my Great Grandmother’s case, “Snoopy”.
Adam is right though. In this era of Google it is important to have a unique identifier and Bug Martini is that. PLUS it is a great name for the comic as well! It is a gentelman’s drink. A mix of the very finest of life’s elixers. Yet if you indulge yourself in too many, you’ll find yourself passed out in the floor with your pants on your head.
Uhh, does nobody else remember this happening in the C&H comics? Remember, the guys were talking and all of a sudden a random chick shows up and talks about merchandise and returns to the comic, where the two guys blew up. Am I the only one who saw this?
So, you’re one of about 30 webcomics I keep up with using my Google Reader RSS feed. Google is eliminating their Reader service as of June 1. Which is to say, this is about the worst possible time you could have chosen to change your URL. Seriously.
Sudden realisation: why has this come before getting merch?
I don’t know how long we’ve been waiting on your promise for merchandise and now this comes out of the blue!
I’m not saying that this is a bad decision but priorities man!
P.S. Thank you for the daily laughs. No insult is intended by this post.
I read all entries at (currently) bug.com through RSS, so I saw both this and the blog post. Chronologically, the blog post was first, so this comic made total sense. It’s also a smart move, and a great choice for a new name.
* I don’t know why, but when I saw “Bug Martini” my first thought was, isn’t that the name now? I realized immediately that the idea was perfect. It could be I feel that way because Huber is my family name as well, and maybe we’re (distantly) related somehow. But I think it’s more that it’s just perfect because it IS.
I walk away for five weeks and I come back to a new Bug. No wait, same bug, different name. I have to admit the first time I tried to find it via google it wasn’t easy so even before I read the explanation I knew what this was done. Good name.
If you’re like me, Reader, then you wondered why the name was changed, but, being that this is archived, the blog Adam referred to wasn’t so easily accessed, as it would be if the post was not an archived page.
It will always be Bug comic in my heart.
Same here.
I’m gonna have to remember to update the RSS link…
Why
Please see the blog post.

nevermind. i forgot that the blog only shows up on ‘bug.com’ and not on individual comic pages.
Is that a sly Calvin and Hobbes reference in the first frame?
It seems not many people noticed the actual comic part. I’m wondering what would have been there
I’m gonna miss the comics, but I *have* been hankering for some cockroach-themed drinks as of late…
@Xartarin: The comic isn’t going away, the name’s just changing.
um, may I ask why? I like the current name. Also I’m not sure if this is serious… am I missing a pun?
Please see the blog post.
Hi Adam,
You’ve mentioned this elusive “blog post” a couple times. Care to link it? I tried to visit bug.com but it’s not loading and I have no idea how to get to the blog . . .
Also, I suppose we will need to update the RSS feed?
Click the Home tab and scroll down.
I DON’T LIKE IT CHANGE IS BAD DON’T DO THIS I HATE YOU FOREVER.
Well that’s a little extreme, don’t you think?
See, Jerkass Bug? You can have fun with news WITHOUT charades!
I must say, I don’t like the changed name. Seems a lot less relevant. But it’s not like it’s the end of the world, and if Mr. Huber feels there’s a reason to switch it, then ok, whatever.
I am a little curious as TO the reason, though.
Is it only me that wonders what really happened in frame 2 and 3? How did he get from the world being a wonderful place to farting in a roller skate?
I NEED TO KNOW! I’LL BE LYING SLEEPLESS OVER THIS!
Indeed. Meh @ the name thing. Oh, and us old-timers can still visit via bugcomic.com, right? Much meh. To mother nature’s pressure valves, if you please!
Oh, and props for the Eco reference.
Change leaves me confused and confusion leads to evil which in turn spreads chaos! At least I enjoy those things.
I don’t think the “name change” is anything more than Adam’s quirky humor.
Just tell us if we need to update our RSS feeds, that’s all I ask!

To read Adam’s blog post explaining the name change, go to the home page and scroll down below the comic. (Or go here: http://www.bugcomic.com/blog/thats-right-its-bug-martini-now/ )

Cool announcement, but now I want context on the child bug farting in his sister’s roller skate. 🙂

all I can say is, the very first strip of BugTini better be the complete version of today’s, or there will be trouble
I am sad to see the passing of Bug. It will be easier to google it on other computers though. Best of luck with the name change!

I think Bug Martini is a fantastic name.

July 1st, actually.
Yes.
We were going to name our puppy “Bug”. Do you think the neighbors will raise an eyebrow if we’re yelling for a “Martini” out the back door?
In martini parlance wouldn’t that be a ‘bug-tini?’
Not to put too fine a point on it, fuck that!
Watch it with the F-bombs.
FFFFUUUUUDDDDGGgggeeeee!*
a la, “Christmas Story” 😀
Messing with perfection ALWAYS sucks, stop doing that!
Make the bug in the top of the site hold a martini glass in one hand and have raised eyebrows. Please. I’m begging you.

First, I LOVE IT! (more about that below*)
I read all entries at (currently) bug.com through RSS, so I saw both this and the blog post. Chronologically, the blog post was first, so this comic made total sense. It’s also a smart move, and a great choice for a new name.

Thanks for making me smile with your art.

Oh and I had you in my Google Reader feed and now I’m with Feedly and it had no trouble tracking the strips in spite of the name change.
If you’re like me, Reader, then you wondered why the name was changed, but, being that this is archived, the blog Adam referred to wasn’t so easily accessed, as it would be if the post was not an archived page.
Well, here’s the blog he was referring to: https://www.bugmartini.com/blog/thats-right-its-bug-martini-now/
Thanks! I was looking for exactly that.
