Funnily enough, the same is true for several pets, as well. For instance, you shouldn’t be asking “Do I want a cat?” – you should be asking “Do I want a small creature with a high-pitched cry to demand food from me?” “Do I want to occasionally find dead creatures where they have no right to be?” “Do I want my stomach to be used as a cushion when I lie down on the couch?”
The same goes for having kids. 😛
Just so! Well, maybe not the dead creatures part.
I mean…..Only PARTS of dead critters…..Just the bones, really…..
“Do I occasionally want piles of dirt on my floor when the cat knocks over the houseplants?”
I especially like the expressive glasses in panel 3.
Hello, Anybody here? I’m here to read the May comic strip for Bug Martini.
Hello, Adam! By your own request, it’s time to play “What Is This Strip About?” I present to you, a strip of Bug Martini from many years ago, with its text removed. Do you remember the topic?

Oh my goodness, that is supremely funny. You should make it public, and allow comments. I think usersub would enjoy it.
Haha, wasn’t my concept. That link was copy-pasted (after making sure it worked) from the comments section of the relevant strip, and Adam reacted to it by asking someone show it to him in a few years.
You just made me search through the archives to find out what that strip was actually about!
Luckily at least the year of release was still on there.
Hello, Anybody here? I’m here to read to read the June Comic Strip for Bug Martini. I will be back in four weeks to not be able to read the July Bug Martini Comic Strip.
If you’re just going to repeatedly complain about the fact that the comic is dead, then piss off. We don’t need your spam here.
The sad part is that I think Adam is in denial that the comic strip is dead. I wish he would just come out and say it himself.
Also If one comment a month pisses you off, you have a very thin skin.
Not really, it’s a free comic that he does as a hobby. He doesn’t have to keep an update schedule if he is too busy/doesn’t have the creative energy at the moment/ just doesn’t feel like it.
Making him feel bad for not updating is just going to make him less likely to check back here.
The update schedule is in the main page title: “random nonsense three days a week”. Doesn’t have to be there, but it’s there, being another indication that Adam doesn’t care too much about updating the site anymore.
I think at some point BM became another job rather than a hobby (only Patreons still get regularish updates, I think, ironically for less money than when he was still doing freebies) and he lost interest. Can’t fault Matthew for moping about that; conversely, Adam would have vocalized his discomfort with phrases like “piss off”.
Oh well – it was fun while it lasted. Maybe he’ll be back in fifteen years or so, when the kids have grown up.
Posting sarcastic comments is an excellent way to make any sort of artist not want to do art for you. It’s also just plain rude.
Is it just me or is the Plant hanging itself from the Caption Box?
It is a shame this strip appears to have petered out. I keep hoping to see new ones but don’t bother checking too regularly anymore.
I checked out his Patreon too, but that seems to have petered out as well. I’ll probably give it another month and then cancel my subscription to his Patreon. Oh well such a shame.
I canceled my subscription two months ago. I keep checking here and figure if he ever comes back and starts up on a regular basis again, I’d resubscribe. I really liked Bug. Thanks for the laughs Adam.
Dear Adam,
I have no idea when I started reading Bug but I’m pretty sure it’s been over a decade. It is one of the oldest webcomics I follow.
Over the year you’ve provided countless laughs, gigglesnorts and “ah that’s clever/funny/dumb” moments.
Bug was one of these little things that provides a form of stability in the great uncertainty of life (ok I may be getting a bit dramatic).
We had children roughly at the same time so I fully understand why there was less and less Bug lately. Hell, you don’t even need a reason to slow down or stop, you do you.
As I move Bug from the “webcomics I check daily” folder to the “updates once in a blue moon but who am I kidding I’m still going to check at least once a week” folder, I give you my thanks.
Sincerely,
Wet
Well said.
How do I upvote?
I know how life gets in the way. All I can say is thank you for all the laughs, and I hope one day Adam will be back.
It’s now a year. I guess I am still in the denial stage of grieving and use the random button to get my daily dose of bug. Thanks for all the laughs Adam and I hope you and your family are well.
I too share the same sentiment.
I’m still checking once a week, and hoping for more comics. But life has gotten in my way a lot in the last year, so I can understand. It’s been fun, and I hope Adam will be back some day.
