I am courious, did you specifically mention the 80s Series starring Simon MacCorkindale or was that a bonus for those few fans that TV-show actually had (myself included).
He could turn into animals, but mostly just kept turning into the same panther over and over, because they only spent the money to do one morph for the pilot. Because, you know, morphing was hella difficult in the ’80s. It only ran for 8 weeks, which coincidentally is probably how long it took them to make that one panther morph.
Searching my dusty memory ( and Google) Manimal was a bad TV show that lasted 2 1/2 months in 1983. The hero could change into any animal he chose. I wonder how bad the special effects were because that was before CGI.
Just stay off of Tumblr. Simply being straight, white, male, cisgendered, and/or rich is enough to get you the cold shoulder from about 99% of bloggers.
As of 2020, Tumblr is for the most part (relatively) dead; these days people would rather use it for screaming into the abyss than for any sort of Genuine Political Discourse™; even the extremists left for Twitter.
Technically, that’s general-purpose bigotry, not racism.
By nowadays terms, you may be right.

Oh sure, just assume all furries are mammals. Friggin’ speciesist,
Technically, the reptilian among us are called scalies.
I’m pretty certain that’s a furry subgroup, still coming under the “furry” banner.
Well, OK then…
Also, ‘Manimal’ is exclusive of those non-cis-hetero alternative-gendered and is therefore misogynist and antiLGBQTEIEIO, and so is badbad.
So sick of this bullshit on the internet. Good thing the real world doesn’t care 🙂

I wondered the same 🙂
Kind of a bonus. I remember the show title more than the show itself. Did he have the ability of animals or could he actually turn into animals?

I knew I knew that name from somewhere.
I wasn’t sure if it was a show, or a food product (like animal crackers in people shapes).
Judge the special effects for yourself:

Did anyone else get annoyed that it was his hands that turned into the hawk’s talons? Shouldn’t they have been wings? Like Isabeau in Ladyhawke?
My God, that’s terrible!
And, by the time he transforms the danger is over.
That is the single slowest transformation sequence I’ve ever seen.
As an offensive, I find this furry!
You perverted entomologist. You sick bug lover.
I love this too much for words. Thank you for this Adam. Thank you.
From a proud furry.
This has not yet started the flamewar I expected, do I need to tip over some foxes or what?
Wait I know, cross more internet boundaries. GMO Christian aborted transgender Trump babies. There that’s prettymuch all the current lines, now fight.
You forgot guns.
I think that you forgot Star Wars/Star Trek

They say there are no absolutes in life, but I can check off every one of those boxes.
Good thing I don’t know what a tumbler is.
I thought it was a drinking vessel.
I am literally every one of those things.

Hanukkah is ours and you can’t have it. Nyah nyah nyah.
