A ronin is a samurai with no master. Being fired means that you no longer have a master. Solution: get a job as a samurai, so that when you get fired, you do become a ronin.
And to answer your question – none of the turtles used a wakizashi, but Leo SHOULD have. Daisho is much easier with a shorter blade in your off hand. Using two identical katana is unwise.
I always figured it was a wakizashi, they just drew it poorly. There are European fighting styles that use two blades,of roughly equal length. Never been a fan of them, but my wife got into it for a while.
This is doubly entertaining to me because I follow a lady named Noraly at itchyboots.com and on YouTube. She’s riding around the world (or was…) and has so far used two Royal Enfield motorcycles, named Basanti and Dhanno; and is now riding a Honda that she named… Ronin.
It’s been a very long time since three daily “Bug” strips appeared in a single week, but for a while the website’s logo was (technically) correct, as long as the Sunday posts for paying customers counted toward the total. None of this matters if Adam has indeed had a (second) kid, but I don’t see any announcements in the Facebook or Twitter pages shown to non-subscribers. In any case, the correct place to quell the unruly “Bug” readership would be right here, and not on any other asocial media websites.
For folks worried about Adam, he’s trying to finish up the Kickstarter books & deal with kiddo; the Patreon feed keeps us cool bugs in the know!
As for the wakizashi, it’s the sword that’s used to slice one’s own entrails out as an act of ritual suicide. The “12 Ronin” story concludes with that.
That’s only so because it’s shorter. Samurai would carry two swords on them; the katana, and the shorter wakizashi. Besides use in daisho, when you visit someone’s home, you hang your katana at the door and keep the wakizashi on you in case of disaster while indoors.
As someone who recently got fired, I appreciate today’s cartoon.
Trick question.

So you just need to make sure your boss dies before he fires you. Ronin Salary Man.

Did you get fired from this comic strip? Is that why so few updates this month?
Okay, I’m not just imagining it right? This comic definitely no longer updates thrice-weekly.

P.S. I meant “slogan”, not “logo”: the line “Random nonsense three days a week” is hidden in the main page’s title.
He’s had a baby so he’s taking time off the comic. he made a blog post about this but idk how many people saw it

In panel two you forgot to erase some lines on the head piece.
I listed my title as Ronin on a professional website when I was last between jobs. It caused some questions.
