If it's any consolation, retrograde amnesia tends to affect episodic memory (which is personal in some way, inherently subjective) more than semantic memory (which is like facts about the world, inherently objective). It's plausible that he'd forget his past but remember the existence of a film.
I do enjoy these comics better, I remember this one distinctly after reading it several months ago. I'm not saying the other style is no good, but I think it's nice to keep switching it up
As Dust said, it's possible. Total/true amnesia is actually rather rare (of course, I get most of my medical knowledge from my WWII survivor grandpa and watching reruns of House, so don't quote me on that)
Bug: Doc, I have amnesia. I can’t remember who I am.

Doctor bug: You’re a secret agent being pursued bu enemy operatives.
Bug: Wow, just like “The Bourne Identity.”

Doctor bug: Yes. Now go! It’s not save for you here!
Bug: Thanks. I’ll never forget you!
—
Nurse bug: Must you Lie to all the amesia patients?
Doctor bug: But look how happy he is.

“But look how happy he is” is now a line that I commonly use in conversation.
