Ive never heard Chinese burn before. Its Indian burn here in California.
Not sure if it refers to native americans like me or like…how do I say this not racial-slur-y… um from India-Indian.
Gonna jump into this comment too. This is…questionably racist…but I promise you, I mean no offense. I have heard it “Indian burns” and this is due to the red skin that is left. Remember the original Power Rangers and how they got in trouble for having an African-American as the Black Ranger, the Asian-American as the Yellow Ranger, and the Native-American as the Red Ranger? Yea…. Hope I didn’t offend.
Why do people keep assuming that a relationship shown in one day’s strip is true throughout? It often seems that Bug is a narrator and then visualises/shows something being acted out to illustrate his point, but even that’s probably overanalysing it – the strips stand alone.
*pfff* as if “bro” was really used for “brother”. And just if we pretend it is used as an abbreviation of the long and ugly word “brother”, it could also be used to shorten “brother-in-law”, na!?
I've already warned the sisterfolk about the horror that they will be in if they procreate. Mainly the obscene amount of comic books and mountain dew their child will recieve when in my care.
Yup, and i'm ready to brand myself the "crazy uncle".
I don't know about optical illusions, but "uncle" is backwards on the brand. The letters should be backwards, but not the order of them, to reverse correctly onto charred skin.
Yeah, I really connect with panel 3. One of my uncles (in-law) is a registered sex offender… of course, he was married and had two daughters (who I don’t think know this). He was also a total jerk. Suffice to say we were all happy when his wife got a divorce and we no longer had to be related to him…
Branding irons aren’t typically backwards like that. If bug gets branded with that iron he will have to look in a mirror to be able to read it. 😉 Unless you meant it to be backwards on him that is. Either way, LOVE your comic.
Ya gotta hate those Indian burns.
pretty sure it's chinese burns
In french it's "indian" yeah.
I found "Indian sunburns" in english too but chinese is more used no?

so nerd bug and bug are brothers? that explains the not-so-friendly rivalry

Uh-Huh!
She loves the bug's uncle!
Yeah! Yeah!
She loves the bug's uncle!
Whoa! Whoa!
She loves the bug's uncle!
And the bug's uncle's buggy for me!
Bad parody yes, but something I thought of when I saw this comic. Its an actual song called 'The Monkey's Uncle'
"Don't molest your kid." I immediately thought of the movie "Tommy" where they leave Tommy alone with the molester uncle.
Same, except I thought of the original album first…

Isn't blonde bug bug's sister?
No, nerd bug is bug's brother. Blond bug is bug's sister in law.
Ah..oops, I "mis-saw" her saying "bro" instead of nerd bug. A family tree would have prevented this, yes yes 😀
*pfff* as if “bro” was really used for “brother”. And just if we pretend it is used as an abbreviation of the long and ugly word “brother”, it could also be used to shorten “brother-in-law”, na!?
I opt for the family tree, too. 😉
i believe "familal" should be "familial" in the 4th panel. Today's strip was awesome, as always 😀
You're correct. I looked that word up and still managed to misspell it.
Okay, all fixed. Thanks for the catch!
Well Bug we're in the same exact boat now. Enjoy the torture.
so true about branding. my nephews all call me "uncle" and not by first name 🙂

LOL– My family does this to me.
"Sure I'll watch your kid!"
"NO!! You fed her candy bars and coke for breakfast."
*Haha* – I told all my folks “I know how to handle kids” and sent them these Youtube links:

So far noone has asked me to watch their kid. 🙂
Adam,
Uhhh…Good try, but you didn't quite get that brand right. I guess you must not have grown up in the country!
@The Dukenator-ha ha. i got it immediately. Good thought I think.
and I LOVE little bugs expression
You're really good at making cockroaches emotive. lol
yeah i know right, i'm fourteen and already an uncle
If you look closely at the branding iron (or whatever it is in the second panel), you'll notice some cool optical illusion crap.
I don't know about optical illusions, but "uncle" is backwards on the brand. The letters should be backwards, but not the order of them, to reverse correctly onto charred skin.
Actually.. the view we’re seeing is from Normal Bug’s view, as opposed to Nerd Bug’s view. Nothing much wrong there.
In regard to this Uncle thing, I dunno, I’m kinda alright with it. I like playing with kids, just don’t ask me to feed or bath them…
