Yes! The long awaited continuation of the Castaway comic! Very nice!
Ok Adam, I have to ask, where do you get your isparation for nerd-bug? At first, he started off as an extra character, and has now evolved into bug's jerk of a foil. Is there some poor ex-best friend in your life with glasses who's responsible for this???
The bug with the glasses was just born out of necessity. I originally wanted all the bugs to look alike but some jokes required a way of telling two characters apart.
I find the "nerd bug" absolutely fascinating because I didn't consciously create him. He just sort of happened. My favorite part about him is that for once, the character with the glasses is the bully.
I like how you are describing the "nerd bug". I have read a lot of Bill Waterson's descriptions of how he enjoys Calvin so much because of how Calvin surprises him. As he writes he thinks of what that character would say, when, and how, and it creates a strong dialogue.
It is going on four months now that I have been checking this out daily. I really enjoy the dynamic interactions and one off "canned" jokes that bring a jovial punch out to the forefront. Tough to keep the creative flows happening on such a regular basis, and I applaud your ongoing determination! Keep it up! 🙂
That's not impossible irl, Adam. 😀 You know how there are some bullies who are all talk, then there are others who are genuinly bad people and they'll beat your face in? When I was in junior high, me and some close friends, who were all very nerdy and most of us wore glasses, would pick out the ones who were just talk and annoy the (ahem) out of them non-stop. But we would ONLY do it to the idiots and the bullies. The teachers even kinda supported us, at least as much as they could without getting in trouble.
For example, there was this one guy named Joey… if I saw him today, I'd expect him to have white shutter shades and two popped collars or something – that's the kind of guy he was. Anyways, we started calling his name, then when he looked to see what we wanted, we'd look away and completely ignore him. Of course, he stopped looking when we called, but if he didn't look, we'd call again and again… not stopping until we tired or he looked… then of course we'd look away and ignore him. Finally, he complained to the gym teacher (the only class we had with him was gym), and he just kinda said "I don't see the problem. Maybe you should see what they want." Joey insisted that he had to do something about it, and after a ton of whining (teacher was obviously annoyed) he himself started "Joey… Joey… Joey…" And anyone in the class who saw laughed.
…..Sorry about the length. I get carried away with stories. I actually want to keep going, but I'm forcing myself to stop.
panel two is survival 101
Of course Nerd Bug is gonna be the asshole to cool normal Bug.
P.S. I Want A Hot Dog Sleeping Bag
P.S.S. I Wear Glasses
P.S.S.S.
Oh. Good morning.
It should be P.P.P.S.. Ya know, post post post script.
I love how they're on a foodless deserted island, yet they have tables, utensils, and A-1 sauce.
Well yeah, it's that important.
Panel 2 was so ridiculous it cracked me up.

P.S. Don't take this to mean that i don't LIKE nerd bug. He may be a jerk, but he's a GREAT jerk! XD

Very funny! 🙂
awww look, he decorated the eating table with a little flower…
I enjoy panel 3 with the pointing fingers/thumbs up, nice touch!
I call it the Fonzie point. XD
The #1 best way to survive potential cannibalism is to eat everyone else first…
So ''nerd bug'' would do good on survivor, huh.
Bug's sleepy face in the last panel is epic.

“Thanks. I feel so succulent!” is probably my favorite quote so far from this site.
