I always liked the opening credits from that one sitcom with John Laroquette getting drunk in a hotel bar; I think it’s probably possible to look charming from behind a pyramid of shot glasses. At least, you know, to someone else who’s approximately or, at least, aspiring to be as drunk as you are.
First, I love the new look. Second, you know that store “Things Remembered” in the mall, which sells “Random Metal Crap That We Will Engrave”? I got my Zippo and my flask from there, and had them engraved to match. I think everybody should have a matching engraved Zippo and flask. Whether or not you smoke, drink, both, or neither.
Love the new look. Took a few moments to find the comments section, but here I am! I also have been gifted a flask with my NFL team on it, by my one brother (out of five) who is also a Denver Bronco’s fan. All the rest of those losers are Raiders fans, so…no flask for them!
Anyhoo, I’ve never used it either. I mostly drink beer, not hard liquor, so…well, there’s that.
Also…I know what bug is doing in that 4th panel. For shame!
Also (part 2)…NO MORE AVATARS? NOW MY NAME MAKES NO SENSE…I bring this up because of course, it’s all about me around here…
I dislike the change for no good reason so I will hurl random unrelated insults.
I actually do have one potentially helpful comment though. The new layout takes up a lot of space on a desktop browser. I’m running 2560 x 1440 and it takes three screens to show the strip and only 6 comments. Not a deal-breaker of course, just kind of a bother.
Maybe it’s not rendering properly in my “old” browser, and maybe I’m in the minority since I don’t read comics on my telephone, but the new layout looks like a substantial downgrade. The old standard was unique and recognizable and organized and featureful, while what I see now is bland and generic and impressively lame. Pardon any offense, but it’s an eyesore lacking all class and, while Bug himself is not necessarily known as a classy guy, the best comic on the internet deserves a better presentation than it’s getting right now.
I like the new look. The layout is less cluttered, cleaner. I can’t say I agree ” it’s an eyesore lacking all class.” That’s way over the top and just not true. The comments section is a little big though. It takes up more space than it probably should.
I would not say a flask makes one look ‘classy’… To me, a flask is more an indicator of a gritty, tough guy. A 1920s detective would take a hit from a flask now and then. A soldier would have one. This is just personal opinion.
Ugh… Trying to type on an iPad, and discovering that my comment is grey on grey. 🙁
I WAS going to say that everything except the cartoon is uncomfortably large on the iPad, but that may be so it’s visible on a cell phone screen.
The site does look a little sparse, but perhaps you have plans for it.
I didn’t mind the old site, and the new one will become familiar and comfortable; it’ll just take a few days. Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians, and happy day-after-debate day to you poor, blighted Americans. 🙂
I preferred the old look, but I guess I’ll get used to this one if I have to. One objection: there is no longer a button for a random Bug cartoon. Sometimes I just need some random Bug cartoons….
Count me in the column of folks who preferred the old look. I find the new look garish and it takes up WAY too much screen space on my PC. The previous comments section was also WAY better.
It’s your site so you get to pick the look that appeals to. That said, there are three features that are bothering me: 1) the grey comment box as has been previously mentioned, 2) that I have to scroll farther down to see your commentary and get to the comments, and 3) that I can’t resize the strip on my tablet.
no good-old-logo!
no button for comments or random toon!!
no ‘good-ol-green’ color!!
no comment-text that u can read without moving eyes (much) or having to scroll!!
comment text size is TRIPLE the size of toon text! do u want people to read comments or view toon????
all this ‘mobile friendly’ is crap, lookup ‘bootstrap’!! it maintains similar views on PC AND MOBILE
I’m getting war flashbacks from the 2nd Jackass movie. :O

This reminds me;
I currently own 3 (out of a total of 5) flasks and I have never used one.
For some reason I get gifted one every now and then.
It’s weird.
Maybe people see me as being classier than what I actually am.
Carry a flask filled with M&Ms or Skittles.
Use flasks to carry around spare coffee.

I miss the days when it was acceptable to take a drink from a flask in public. Now, I’m pretty sure people just think you’re an alcoholic.
