I have one player in my group who rolls really well. ALL. THE. TIME.
We’ve changed their dice and everything and they still do it.
Here’s the clincher – it doesn’t work in casinos or other areas like that. That either says something about their luck or it says something really suspicious about gambling facilities.
…I JUST had a session where the players cast Faerie Fire, Obscuring Mist, and Dancing Lights in quick succession. I called the result “Disco Fog” and told the players that they had an inexplicable desire to start dancing.
I think one of the players may injure herself laughing after seeing this comic.
What wonderful timing, I had my first game in months last night.
D&D does indeed have a lot of baggage from being the original TTRPG, including a basic underlying machinery that makes tasks that should be really easy unduly likely to fail.
This is why my d&d party used Pathfinder classes and started at level 10. (Although my gunslinger still died 3 separate times over the course of just 5 sessions, *cough cough*. He took a god down with him though!)

This is exceedingly relevant since I’m meeting with my GM today to talk about our new campaign and my character. You betcha I’ll be showing her this!
I remember playing Palladium’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” back in the 1990s.
I was bothered by the fact that my awesome character wasn’t guaranteed to take out a cardboard box in one attack.
Isn’t that the one where a bump on the head can make your character gay?
Sounds like someone hasn’t played 5th Edition yet. Many of these old-school complaints have finally, thankfully, been resolved.
Also, fighters are finally interesting. No, really!

You doof… don’t you know you need at least a daylight spell to dazzle orcs?
Also, every side of a gelatinous cube is the broad side.
