actually its weird that dialog came up that way even though the movie is called raising ariozona and prolly has nothing to do w/ the state arizona ppl in arizona do talk funky like this (i would know since i live there)
Actually this isnt too far from the truth most are shy or timid wen ppl come to looking to adopt and try harder to make themselves seem perfect instead of being themselves
I think the point that Adam is making is that Orphans are pretty much there for the taking (so to speak), so they should have kidnapped (not adopted) an orphan rather than take someone else’s kid…baby…bug…what-have-you.
Yeah, I agree with what Jeff has said: people got too caught up in what they assumed was the ‘catch’ (adoption), and missed the point of what was being said (not only would orphans be EASIER to catch, but they would WANT an actual home, and family). And yeah, I also agree with Bill & Malcar (sounds like a movie title in and of itelf…), this strip really did make me feel saddened, but that only speaks to Adam’s strength as a writer….
I read it again this afternoon. I teared up…the orphan’s expressions and hands just speak volumes, and the writing is both humorous and jolting. Like Bill said; punched me in the heart.
First panel “You want I should” doesn’t sound right to me.
You gotta read it with a Jersey accent, yo!

It’s a Jewish thing. We have funny ways with words.

I guess it is something I’ve picked up from TV ’cause it sounds right to me here in rural Tx…
Gotta love Nic Cage Bug.
It’s amazing how much emotion you convey with little blank eyes and splayed fingers! Brilliant…

Ummm….actually, they had to kidnap an infant because all them get adopted right away and just the older kids are left.
(It was an infant in the movie, right? If not, then idk and “Oops.”)
@MrSnow: It’s called Raising Arizona because the child is kidnapped from a family whose surname is Arizona.
In the couple in the movie didn’t adopt because they couldn’t. Cage’s character was a career criminal so he and his wife were refused.
Apologies if you already knew all this.
I’m not suggesting that the characters “adopt” an orphan. I’m saying that it’d be easier to “kidnap” an orphan.
I know you weren’t suggesting adoption, but Mr. Snow was.
1. They couldn’t adopt on accounta Hi’s “checkered past.”
2. Son, you got a HDTV box on your head youtu.be/GM9JUjHin14
3. OK, then.
It was sad that the movie nerd in me instantly popped up with what William already said, “But… but.. his criminal record prevented him from adopting!”
What makes this comic so funny is it’s from the point of view of the orphan, who wouldn’t be thinking like that. Great job! 🙂
I’m saying they should’ve kidnapped an orphan, not adopt.
So if I’m understanding you correctly, you’re saying they should have kidnapped an orphan, not adopt?
Kidnap an orphan? Who does that? Don’t they just pass them out?
Adam, dontcha just HATE it when people completely miss the point of the strip? LOL!

I watched WilliamKattWilliam’s clip. It was a toddler.
Holy hell. That punched me in the heart.
Aww, this made me sad. Comics aren’t allowed to make me sad, no fair Adam!
Indeed a sad comic today. The orphans look so cute. Poor little bugs.
