I agree with TB Tabby Christmas is a giant competition and there are certainly a lot more. For example: At least in Germany it is (amongst catholics) a tradition to tidy up the graves (put flowers, gravelights and what not on it) of your relatives for the procession on all hallows (tomorrow) and there is definitely a competitive component in there (more in sense of “im not going to be the one everybody talks smack about at the graveyard”).
Clearly you’re forgetting Christmas light decoration contests, as well as the Santathon.
looks like both bugs in panel 4 could use a hand or two
you win
what did i win?
the pun battle.
there are no prizes.
That’s no surprise.
Solace, didn’t you mean SurpriZe?
For some reason the second panel makes me want to dye Easter eggs the color out of space.
What unspeakable horror wilt thou wrought upon the world?

There’s Purim with who can be the best dressed Esther, and Sukkot with the neatest looking shack with fruits and veggies hanging from it.
You’re forgetting Easter egg hunts.
Umm, the annual Easter egg hunt was QUITE the competition in my childhood…
most hunts however, are not, and are rather communist in nature.
What Easter egg hunts were you in? Those things were cut-throat!
In Soviet Russia eggs find YOU!
And who can forget such things as pie eating contests or bake offs for Independence Day?
“I gave up competition for Lent.”
I gave up religion for Lent
I gave up restraint for lent. Beat that!
I love Lent so much, I gave up Lent for Lent!
Oh yeah? I love lent so much I celebrate it all year. This year I promised not to breathe
I could totally win the Memorial Day competition. Just ask my wife…
Sometimes true power is power for its own sake.
It is better to be feared than loved.
Feel the power!

Have a spooktacular day!
I seem to recall a few Sunday school Easter egg hunts that got downright brutal.
I feel the last panel is a Seinfeld “The Contest” Reference?
Nope.
4th panel caused a 3 minute gigling fit…I thank-you sir.
