This is a dishearteningly apt analogy.
But laurels are a stiff and rigid leaf, pretty shitty for resting on…
Y’know, it actually makes sense that this is a similar joke to a previous strip (Take the Laurel High Ground) because it just shows how committed bug is to resting on his laurels.
(FWIW, I like this strip’s version of the joke better)
