I share your appreciation of Rule Britannia, even though I’m German (but let’s face it, when it comes to rule the waves, the Germans don’t have such a solid track record).
More recently, however, I’ve come to find the tune of Land of Hope and Glory from Pomp & Circumstance even more impressive (if not outright mind-blowing).
To be fair, not all is lost when it comes to Germans, ruling the waves, people losing their head, literally, and uplifting songs: There’s the excellent Pirate Jenny song, which ends in mass beheading, and according to Wikipedia even inspired Alan Moore.
Finally a new Bug Martini after a long weekend. I was starting to experience withdrawals. Hey… wait. What??! HERETIC! SATANIST! (Well, insect Satanist at least.) The ants are doomed. DOOMED!
Haven’t done the Jesus thing in a while, but I remember the Hymns from being raised Catholic. Now I wish at least one was set to “Modern Major General”. “Jesu, dúlcis memória, Dans véra córdis gáudia” might fit, but I think it’s missing a syllable on each line for the patter to match.
This is why upbeat catchy “praise and worship” songs are displacing all the old hymns. You are not alone in wanting a particular type of music to go with your faith experiences.

They’re thinking of replacing God Save the Queen with Jerusalem aren’t they? A find ELP song.

You could always try “Amazing Grace” to the tune of “The House of the Rising Sun.” Fits perfectly.
