On one hand, the “vampires are weak to garlic” theory was probably started by the fact that vampires are portrayed as having superhuman senses, and there are few scents that are less pleasant in intensity than garlic.
On the other hand, you absolutely have a point that garlic is a seasoning that goes well with several dishes, and for all we ordinary humans know, blood might be one of them.
That’s pretty much how it works in Witcher.
There was an actual scene with big dinner where one vampire was waving a piece of garlic on his silver fork and sharing “folk wisdom” about how vampires can’t stand either.
At least garlic is healthy. Eat too many people with donuts, and those poor vamps will end up with Type 2 diabetes!
I know exactly where I would put these donuts on Ms. Bug…
On her antennae of course.
Cf. item #220 on the Evil Overlord List 😉

Animal blood is a common foodstuff in many part of the world, often made into puddings and gravys.
Google blood recipies and I’m sure you’ll get at least one with garlic.
*GASP* I just realized!
Spiders are vampires!
They drain the juices out of other bugs!
…They just, y’know, liquify them first. And aren’t contagious.
