I don’t know, I always aimed to make that triangle when I did pinewood derby. I believed that it would be faster than the fancier designs. I usually finished in first or second with it.
I had to make one of these frickers in shop class.

Every year I refuse to get involved and the kids buy their own cars. Race day is Sunday and I find myself conscripted to help meet weight limits and paint the cars and all the things the kids were supposed to have done by now.

If, however, you go in knowing that, you can build a winning racer. Won a couple tournaments with that design.
