I have to admit that it looks more like the doc is trying to -strangle- the cancer out of his patient, which I’ll also admit felt kind of bad for laughing at.
Likely the reflex evolved back in the day when injuries to fingers where more likely to caused by teeth and mandibles than hammers. It isn’t supposed to make you feel better or to fix the current injury. It’s supposed send flying whatever the bleep made the first injury before it has time to make a second.
Growing up on the farm and having to put fingers down into and around a lot of all natural, preservative free, no evil-big corporations involved, holes, logs, rocks, animal orifices etc, I can tell you that a a quick flick of the wrist gets ride of most “all natural” sources of finger pain more often than not.

I think you’re trying to promote blood flow into the injured area when you shake it.
Great comic as always! Excited for the next one!
I thought it was too cool down your injury in a weak attempt to numb it.
In that kind of universe doctors will be called professional shaker. There’s probably also devices for self shaking at home in various sizes.
Flu: 1 minute of shaking every 6 hours.
Measles: 3 minutes of shaking every 4 hours.
Cancer: 4 hours of shaking a day for 3 months.
HIV: 12 hours of shaking a day for a year.
Death: 24 hours of shaking every day for five years.
With flu, I tend to shake half the time anyway with fever. It doesn’t make the flu go away faster… I would rather be able to walk it off.
maybe it does. maybe if you didn’t it would go a lot slower
“…to the cancer over there,
that’s taking all my hella hair,
Why don’tcha come on over baby,
we can shake, shake, shake…”
Oh, come on, you knew SOMEone was gonna reference that with the title you chose, Adam…
My eyesight is terrible. In the second panel the word “FLICK” puzzled me greatly at first. The L and the I ran together…
Snorted my coffee on panel 4. Serious sinus burns going. Still worth it.
ok this is the best ever we comic hahahahahahashahaha
“You never see Doctors trying to jiggle the cancer out of patients.” Well, have they TRIED?
I love how calm the doctor-bug looks in panel 3.
would bring a whole new meaning to fighting diseases.
