Woohoo! New Comic Strip!
Thank you, my mom likes to correct me when I call a shovel a shovel.
And here I was calling a spade that black upside-down heart with a stem card.
I will wait for the next Bug until Hell freezes over.
I was under the impression that a spade was a small one-handed tool used for an amount of dirt you put in flowerpots. That giant fricker you’re depicting is a proper shovel.
You’re thinking of a trowel. A spade has a long handle like a shovel but with a narrower and flatter blade.
My mom would stipulate that a spade is flat and used for digging or turning soil whereas a shovel is more spoon shaped and used to scoop sand. Except she would say so in her particular dialect of Flemish where the former is a “schop” and the other a “schup”. Or vice versa – I can tell the tools apart, just not their names.
I liked David Shovel on Just Shoot Me.
Happy Groundhog Day! The Groudhog saw his shadow. So that means six more weeks of Bug Martini comics.
