I was recently told that the insult “hoser” — which is supposedly a Canadian term for a general drunk loser, even though I’ve never heard a Canadian outside of a television show use it — comes from the pre-Zamboni days in which the loser-est person on the team was responsible for hosing down the rink to make the ice smooth.
OH no! The Zamboni Apocalypse looms!
TIL what a Zamboni is.
Thank you Mr Bug.
That had to be quite…messy…
First Zambonis, next Airport Runway Plows. Those things are TERRIFYING
I think I saw that movie… or was it an afternoon special? I’m pretty sure Patty Duke was in it.
Bug in the first panel doesn’t seem overly concerned that his girlfriend just got run over
haha, neither does the zamboni driver.
Understandable, happens all the time…
How do you get run over by a Zamboni? It’s not as if they can sneak up on you.
Girlfriend got run over by Zamboni,
Walking back from hockey Christmas Eve…
Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who sang that first panel. Now it won’t go away.

Just thought you’d all like to know.
Love learning word origins…thx.
I can’t swear that it’s true, mind you. Just that someone told me it.
Zombonis are even more dangerous (and infinitely more annoying).
