seriously.
pescatarians confuse the hell out of me. you’re telling me you’ll pass up a perfectly good cut of ham or beef or chicken, but you’ll eat halibut? not even deep-fried or anything, just straight fish?
yeah, pescatarians confuse me. who passes up a nice cut of beef or pork in favor of a halibut fillet? not even deep-fried or anything, just straight fish?
Straight answer: by some linguistic quirk, “fishy” describes the flavour of fish that’s gone off, not that of fresh fish. With the exception of some Scandinavians that are thought of as mad by even other Scandinavians, nobody eats fish that actually smells fishy.
And yes, fresh fish tends to be rather subtle in flavour, requiring a refined taste to be appreciated fully.
Some fish taste muddy, I give you that. But a lot, like salmon, tastes great.
I don’t really get “taste fishy”. Does meat taste “meaty”? Even boar is different to pork.
I assume it’s like “cheese” and “cheesy”.
“Salt” and “salty”.
“Oil” and “oily”.
“Chocolate” and “chocolatey”.
Everyone has a different level of tolerance.
And if it’s too high, you probably have health problems.
(I literally cannot get out of this chair)
Absolutely! I love fish so much that I want all of them to remain alive in their respective habitats and faaar away from my plate.
As an enthusiastic eater of raw fish, I both disagree with you and also will not try to get you to eat fish. More for me that way.
seriously.

Typo in the last panel. 5 stars!
I especially like the disapproving look of Mustached Waiter Bug in panel 4.
The departing waiter bug looks so dastardly, trying to serve our poor innocent protagonist-bug steak-tasting steak.

Thank you for this comment.
I appreciate jokes, but I also appreciate etymology!

To me, the worst is salmon. I’d just as soon go to the creek and drink water from the fish’s backside! Gross! I say leave the salmon for the bears!
Btw, I’m fully aware that salmon aren’t in creeks! I just used it for an example.

I discovered that fish tastes great if you absolutely load it with salt. Like, several shakes of the shaker per bite.
