It’d be way better for the environment, too. Lawns were invented so rich people could hire people to maintain what was essentially a worthless crop just to show off that they were rich, then everyone else started doing it to look rich. A lawn of, say, clover and dandelions would still serve the useful purpose of being an area of short greenery, while providing insects with habitat and requiring only alcohol-based maintenance.
At my house we do this because we love weeds, but our crabby uncle (who helps pay rent) insists that we mow even when it doesn’t need to be.
